Letters from Presenters
"The Chestnut Brass Company's presentation at The Juilliard School was enlightening and engaging. Their demonstration using historical brasses was a fascinating look at the development of brass chamber music over past centuries and helped put old music into historical context for our students."
- Raymond Mase, Chair of Brass, The Juilliard School
(New York, NY) 2008
"Larry, I wanted to let you know the Chestnut Brass Assemblies were a huge hit in my school. Our students were educated, entertained and truly enjoyed the format. The quintet was amazing to listen to and even impressed our non music staff. Of course the music staff and students were also completely blown away. Bravo to Chestnut and thanks for helping set this up for us.
Many Thanks!"
- Chris Melito (Yorktown Heights, NY) 2008
"Their program attracted a large crowd and I was pleased to see all age groups represented...our audience had a great time during the concert and left feeling uplifted by the brass music. The variety of the program and humorous explanations kept everyone engaged, including young people who were fascinated by the instruments. We strongly recommend this group for any prospective concert producer, and would be happy to have them back again in the future."
- Dr. Stanley Livengood, Director of Music
Fort Smith Arkansas First Presbyterian Church
(Fort Smith, AR)
"wonderful concert...Chestnut Brass was very well received by the audience and a pleasure to work with. The school workshop was exceptional..."
- Laurel A Canan, Executive Director, Janesville Performing Arts Center
(Janesville, WI)
"The concert was well received and the master class was delightful for all involved. We were delighted to have them on our series."
-John A. Hartmann, Virginia Commonwealth University
"Larry,
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed having the Chestnut Brass Company at Louisburg College. They were talented, funny, informative, and very easy to work with! Thanks also to you for all of your work.
Thanks"
- Robert Poole, Louisburg College (Louisburg, NC)
"Thank you, Chestnut Brass for your excellent work in Apple Valley the weekend of January 31. I must tell you that your musicianship, your professionalism, and especially your teaching and coaching skills far surpassed the high expectations I had of your group. It was from beginning to end a joy and inspiration to work with each of you.
55 students at Apple Valley High School took the time to write a thank-you card after your visit on Thursday. I wish you could read all of them; your performance definitely left a lasting impression on many.
The Saturday brass clinic was for me most special of the events. I have not received many comments directly about the clinic, but I am confident that for many it will be long-remembered. Your caring, thoughtful, and engaging approach to the clinic was dead on and truly inspirational.
Your concert has generated the most expressions of awe and gratitude. Your performance was extremely well received. I sat in the back with the church's representative (a fine musician himself) and we shared jaw-dropping looks with each other all evening.
It is our goal at MVA to present in our suburban communities truly fine musical performances in professional settings accompanied by meaningful educational opportunities. As a school of music, this goal is in many ways secondary to our primary mission to keep a first rate studio. As we prepare to conduct visioning and strategic planning excersizes this coming summer many have seriously questioned our role as concert presenter. Your visit and its powerful impact has reminded us how important these types of events are in maintaining a healthy arts community. I will be forever grateful to you for showing us the power and the reach and the importance of presenting fine musical performances. "
Most sincerely,
- Scott Winters, Executive Director, Minnesota Valley Academy of Music
(Burnsville, MN)
